After Tarrus Riley performing in Uganda in August and Ye vacationing with his family in Uganda recently, Uganda has surely become a top destination for many creatives. Uganda-based East Africa Records is gearing up to host UK reggae outfit, Mungo’s Hi FI.

Mungo’s Hi Fi, a UK reggae collective, is on an East Africa tour dubbed Mungo Hi Fi’s Tour on which they are set to feature their new female artiste, Eva Lazarus, alongside Ugandan artists, first in Kampala on November 9th at The Square, then in Jinja on November 10th at Pit Stop (formerly Laftaz Comedy Lounge).

Fresh on the scene, East African Records will also be rolling out new music with Ugandan, East African and UK artists during Mungo Hi Fi’s Tour as artistes come together to collaborate in studio and shoot videos for new releases.

“…first in Kampala on November 9th at The Square, then in Jinja on November 10th at Pit Stop (formerly Laftaz Comedy Lounge).”

The two concerts will bring together reggae and dancehall artists from Uganda together with Mungo’s Hi Fi, with their main act Eva Lazarus as the headliner. Uganda’s Ziggy Dee who is expected to perform a new song he is producing with the UK unit, and other Ugandan reggae artistes like Blessed San, has already been booked to perform.

From Kenya, Nazizi, remembered as one half of the Kenyan reggae outfit Necessary Noize is also set to perform at both concerts.

Entrance to the concerts that are expected to kick off at 6pm are UGX 30,000 in Kampala and UGX 15,000 in Jinja at Pit Stop.

Mungo’s Hi Fi is a sound system based in Glasgow, Scotland which follows the original Jamaican sound system tradition. After working together previously, Tom Tattersall and Doug Paine founded the group in 2000, writing, recording, producing and performing their own brand of reggae and dub music, working in collaboration with other artists and producers. They were joined in 2002 by Craig Macleod, in 2006 by Jerome Joly and in 2012 by James Whelan. This will not be the first time the unit has performed in Uganda, having graced the first ever Nyege Nyege festival.

Eva Lazarus is a winner of the 2017 Best Female Vocalist/MC at We Love Jungle Awards. Her powerful voice and musical flavors span across genres from Reggae to Hip Hop, DnB to

Jungle and beyond. Eva & her Mungo’s Hi Fi crew are primed for a great time in Uganda, packing a stage show jammed full props and confetti canons, and are ready to nice up the dance!
