The Jinja ‘Jam Session’ makes return this July at a new home

“Where can I get to enjoy a live band performance in Jinja?” is a question I lately get asked a lot. With the limited options available for live band indulgence, it does not help that the monthly Jam Session had taken an indefinite hiatus.

Well, look no more. I can now confirm to you that the Jinja Jam Session is back and will debut at their new home at the Nile Crescent based The Office Bar on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 after 5 months of no kombya!

“We got a new home at The Office Bar and we are happy to jam with you guys again,” said an elated Thomas ‘Tom Cowboy’ Madooba of The Boys’ Band. “Like previously, we will be jamming every first Saturday of the month,” he added.

On their part, The Office Bar hits two birds with a single stone on this one. “You’re all invited to the first Jam Session at The Office Bar,” said The Office Bar’s Douglas Mukama. “We will be having many of them (Jam Sessions) every first Saturday of the month but this one is special as we will also be unveiling our new space; the Cocktail Bar,” he added.

Until it went out of play, the Jam Session had previously been held at Flavors Restaurant on Main Street, The Cozy Bar on Iganga Road, and taken on a liking by a section of partiers in Jinja looking for authentic performers. Unlike live band sessions where a choreographed performance is put up, the Jam Session is not limiting at all as anyone, and I mean anyone, can get up on stage and perform; the reason it was named ‘Jam Session’.

Besides the singers, the Jam Session also features strings, percussion and woodwind instruments.

The Jam Session was pioneered by The Boys Band that comprises Tom Cowboy, Andrew Oundo, Ronnie ‘Habakuk’ Kiryowa, and Steven Oundo. After picking prominence, it later took on, to include, all willing live band acts who now roll as ‘The Jinja Musicians’ Club.’

You can now catch the Jam Session every first Saturday of the month at The Office Bar. Use the opportunity to chill out, perform, network and also be entertained by the best grassroots acts Jinja has to present.
