That the Rolex Festival is coming to Jinja is no longer a rumor or gossip material; it is confirmed, signed, and sealed. The Rolex Festival Jinja Edition was launched this afternoon and is scheduled for Saturday 7th December 2019 at Dam Waters (Jinja Rugby Grounds).
At the press launch, both the organizers and sponsors were excited that the popular food event is finally coming to its cradle land, Busoga. In her speech at the press launch, Enid Mirembe, the Rolex Festival CEO, hinted on what this inaugural Jinja event will have on board.
“We are very happy to be coming home to Jinja. We will have lots of activities on the D-day. We will, of course, have different Rolex stalls that will offer multiple versions of the Rolex. We will have a kids’ section complete with play stuff and a mini-zoo. To cap it off, there will be artiste performances and DJ sessions,” said Enid.
On their part, Coca-Cola is coming on board to bring Christmas home. This explains why the event is happening on the first Saturday of the month, a day they intend to mark out every year. “We are focusing on improving the hygiene of the Rolex and support to the Rolex makers. This will come out in all our activations for this event. Coca-Cola goes well with meals,” said Coca-Cola’s Eastern Regional Marketing Manager, Rosemary.
Jinja based artistes and entertainers were represented by Sandra Sanjja and DJ Wicky, both of BABA Media Group. BABA Media Group and Uganda Airlines are the newest institutions to join the Rolex Festival.
In his remarks as the Chief Guest at the press launch, Busoga Kingdom Premier Dr Joseph Muvawala applauded and welcomed the organizers to Jinja. He pledged support from the Kingdom and his personal presence on December 7th 2019.
Besides Coca-Cola, BABA Media Group, and Uganda Airlines, the Rolex Festival is partnering with Uganda Police and Uganda Tourism Board.
