MMP Raja Foundation joins Busoga Kingdom’s Safe Water campaign with a hefty pledge

MMP Raja Foundation yesterday Saturday 16th November officially announced a partnership with the Busoga Kingdom on their Safe Water campaign. The announcement was announced at a press conference at Pramukh Steel Limited, one of the foundation’s many industries.

MMP Raja Foundation embarked on a UGX1bn (1,000,000,000) with the Busoga Kingdom towards the provision of safe water to the vulnerable communities of the Kingdom. The company will construct 5 boreholes in each of the 11 Chiefdoms effective in the first quarter of 2020.

While announcing the partnership pledge, Francis Baganzi, MMP Raja Foundation’s Corporate Manager emphasized that the now 20-years old company is heavily invested in giving back to the communities in which they do business. MMP Raja Foundation was founded in 2000 and has over 20 companies trading in different businesses.

Busoga Kingdom’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Owekitiibwa Osman Ahmed Noor, who led the Kingdom delegation, thanked MMP Raja Foundation and called on people of Busoga to return the favour by consuming the company’s products that range from household items to business products.

“I bring greetings from His Royal Highness. This has been a long journey and when we sat down, we zeroed in on the idea that would impact the last person in the rural who can’t access water. I am glad to announce that the Kingdom is happy and delighted to receive this offer,” said Owek. Osman, a champion of a network-based approach to development.

“This is a landmark achievement for the Kingdom. To MMP Raja Foundation, I want to assure you that you’re dealing with an institution that is very mindful about accountability; your CSR will be felt. To the Basoga, akugha gwogha (give he who he gives you); support MMP and their products,” added the elated Premier.

On behalf of the Kingdom, Owek. Osman mandated Busoga Royal Concepts Limited to run the program with MMP Raja Foundation.

The Busoga Kingdom delegation comprised Owek. Osman Ahmed Noor, Owek. Yudaya Babirye (Minister of Kyabazinga Affairs), Owek. Joan Machora (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Owek. Isabirye David Aga (Deputy Minister for Information), Owek. Sam Musota (Minister of State for Sports), Owek. Sam Nkenga (Minister for Agriculture), Owek. Ntange Andrew (Minister of Public Affairs and Chief of Protocol), Sandra Nguna (Miss Tourism Busoga), and a number of Kingdom Officials. On their part, MMP Raja Foundation was led by Magan M. Patel, the Company Chairman.

What is Busoga Royal Concepts?

Busoga Royal Concepts was incorporated as a business arm of Busoga Kingdom. Its main mandate is to find sustainable businesses and partners to work with the Kingdom. The company is chaired by Prof. Juma Waswa Balunywa, a scholar in management, leadership and entrepreneurship. He is also an academic administrator, who serves as the Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), a public institution of higher education in Uganda.

The Busoga Kingdom delegation invited the new partners to the Kyabazinga Birthday celebrations and handed them 50 marathon kits. The celebration slated for this Saturday 23rd November 2019 includes a marathon in Jinja Town, a street bash and business expo on Gabula Road, a luncheon at Kakindu Stadium, and a Royal Dinner at Igenge Palace.
