After a really long wait, legendary Ugandan reggae musician Madoxx Ssemanda Sematimba held his very first concert at home. The maiden concert dubbed ‘Madoxx The Legend’ was held last Friday, October 4th 2019, at Kampala Sheraton Hotel gardens in Kampala.
Like has become the norm for artistes to have spillover concerts, Madoxx is having a Jinja edition for his Madoxx the Legend tomorrow at TransAfrica City Plaza, a town-center venue. Unlike Kampala, reggae music fans are bound to have a concert to remember as there will be no limits on time for tomorrow’s concert.
“I know Jinja and studied at Busoga College Mwiri. The only thing that brings me to Jinja now is to give you crispy live music,” said an elated Madoxx at a pre-event press conference this afternoon at the remodeled Bax Hotel, formerly Bax Bar & Restaurant. “It’s not about if this will be an annual thing for me. We can have another concert next month; it all comes down to good planning and support from sponsors because organizing a good concert involves a lot,” he added when asked by 92.5 Victoria FM’s Andy Bash whether his (Madoxx) fans should now anticipate a concert every year.
On their part, Pilsner Lager, the event title sponsors, bragged about their legacy with reggae-themed events and promised a memorable event tomorrow. “The concert is in line with our philosophy as a brand; we are bold. We’ve always supported reggae music. We brought in Lucky Dube and what we’re doing now is bringing reggae to the grassroots,” said Edgar Kihumuro, the Uganda Breweries Limited Brand Manager in charge of Pilsner Lager.
Madoxx The Legend is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 12th October 2019 at TransAfrica, just opposite Queen’s Palace. The event organizers, Sprout Africa, have promised a glitch-free event and guaranteed security in anticipation of a huge crowd turn up. The cover charge is a paltry UGX 10K.
